Greeting Friends!
mentioned clearly in my previous blog. It is a third Generation of Predetermined Times.
21 MODAPTS©
Elements:
The best thing about Modapts is its simplicity. It has just 21 elements and can be used in almost every Industry for Work and Study. Just see the table below:

Analysis of
body movements according to the MODAPTS method:
The MODAPTS
method of analysing the worker’s movements is very simple to apply and provides
very valuable and accurate results for each individual being recorded. Each
body or body part movement is later multiplied with the factor of load mass to
be carried or load factor (L). By increasing the load mass, efforts to perform
a specific task are also increased. The modular (MOD) for each movement
increases (multiples) with the load mass for the corresponding (L). In sewing
floor Load Factor is taken as 1 only because all material i.e. fabric weighs
less than 1 Kg.
Elements of Modapts: Focuses on the body parts used to perform an activity
MODAPTS© has been for many years as the standard
methodology by many industry in Australia and United States of America for
determining sort rates for manual sorting. The prime purpose of MODAPTS is to
determine the time it will take to complete a given task when at standard pace
(Standard Performance). Standard performance is the rate of output which
qualified workers will naturally achieve without overexertion, as an average
over the working day or shift, provided they adhere to the specified method and
they are motivated to apply themselves to their work.
Under the MODAPTS methodology, a rest allowance of 10-15 percent for personal needs and fatigue (PFDs) is provided depending upon the policy of the management personal. All ‘Micropause’ activity, allowing blood circulation through muscles, is included in task timings.
MODAPTS© can be used to provide an expectant time frame for the bundling and recognizing a depot point using a series of movements, reads and decisions. The code refers to the movement (or mental process) that occurs with the specific activity which is typically self-explanatory i.e. all “gets”, “move” and “puts” have a movement associated with them.
For reference, “move” movements are determined by distance and joints moved. See the table below:
M Move
|
Distance hand or finger is displaced
|
Example
|
M0
|
0”
|
Just a flick of a finger
|
M1
|
1”
|
Using finger while grasping fabric
|
M2

2”
|
Turning the fabric around to place
|
M3

|
Rendering material from one hand to another
|
M4
|
10”-16”
|

|
M5

Information is always incomplete sans history. In my next blog about it and Founding father Mr. GC Heyde. He died few years back but fortunately I was able to talk to his son Mr Victor Heyde. Albeit he is now Spiritual Guru and Philanthropist but still support his father's work.
Till then Good Bye and take care.
